Well, well....

What do you know? Back at David Doyle's, only this time in Boxmoor instead. Got as phone call last Saturday morning asking for emergency cover and ended up working the whole weekend. Now I'm working tomorrow as well. This is owing to the fact that someone has swine flu. Ooer, could do without that. Got sent home by the boss apparently, his wife's got it too! Maybe I'll start blogging again, although judging by last weekend they are a bit busier than Berko ever was!

No power

Hmmmm, no power for the last 10 hours. Maybe Poole is taking a Bank Holiday break too! No tea at breakfast. Bloody hell! And no warmed milk for the boy. He's not happy with that. Fortunately it's a beautiful day outside so we'll probably head out shortly and hope someone switches the power back on in the meantime!

Ah, down at the inlaws house (they're on holiday so we've got the run of the place). Boy's in bed, beer in hand sitting in the garden, er, blogging. Right enough of that. Back later.

I came back

Well, seeing as I'm trying to keep up my son's blog I thought I'd try to keep up my own. Shouldn't think it'll last long but we'll see. Anyway, to be perfectly honest I've not to much to say tonight but now that I've activated my mobile blogging we'll see how it goes......

So the fact is that David Doyle in Berko closed down. Not too much of a surprise there. Then DD in Boxmoor offered me a job and I turned it down. Now that was a surprise. Guess I was valuing my weekends after all. Oh, that and the fact that my Jobseekers is almost as much as I would have been earning there. How ridiculous. Not exactly a stimulus (to coin a phrase) into getting me back to work. I would have been earning a pittance and received no support from the state. so what's the point of me working then. Offer me a bit of state money and I'll go and earn the rest part-time. but no, it's all or nothing with the Job Centre. having said all that I do now have a good bit of freelance work coming in which means I'll have to come of benefits anyway and then back on when I'm not earning. It's a bit of a merry-go-round really (did I say merry?).
So that was all a bit garbled I guess. Need a bit more restraint in my ranting I think!
Hey-ho, bed is calling after a large glass of red. time to take the littl'un up with me in the moses basket.

So that's it. Walked past DDs in Berko this morning to find out the office has been closed down with immediate effect.  Not sure when this happened but it looks like it was within the last week or so. ow they'll be dealing out of the Boxmoor branch. That's a real shame and bang goes another business in Berko. And not the last I'm sure. Might just keep this updated as the recession moves on.
